What type of league is Colorado Springs Summer Baseball?
Colorado Springs Summer Baseball is a youth summer baseball league based in southern Colorado Springs, Colorado. Our focus is to give kids that love baseball the opportunity to continue to play organized, good fundamental baseball during the summer by providing the best playing experience possible for every player. When do registrations for the summer baseball season begin?
On-line and mail-in registrations begin on March 1st and continue until May 6th. Fill-in registrations continue after that time as needed. There are usually several in-person registration locations in May. These will be announced on the website and in the Gazette sports announcements.

What are the boundaries?
The great thing about Colorado Springs Summer Baseball is that it does not have any boundaries. We welcome every kid that wants to play summer baseball. We provide summer baseball to all of Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. Last year the league had players from Woodland Park, Manitou Springs, Monument, Falcon, Peyton, Widefield, and Fountain.

Can I sign up to play with a friend or group friends?
You can sign up on your own, with a friend, or with a group of friends. Over the years teams from Colorado Springs, Academy, Tri-Lakes, & High Plains Little Leagues have signed up to play in addition to teams from Divide, Woodland Park, and Manitou Springs. It is the league's intent to keep players with their school and neighborhood friends whenever possible but it is not guaranteed. There is a possibility that a player may not be assigned to a team or area where they live..

What is the cost?
Minors:    $180

Colorado Springs Summer Baseball accepts all major credit cards. Additionally, cash and checks are accepted at the walk-in registration sessions. When you register by on-line registration, you have 3 days to submit payment to the league. If payment is not received, your player will be put on a free agent list. Paid participants will be put on a roster before someone that has signed up but has not paid. A $25 late fee will apply to registrations received after May 9th.

May I get a refund if we decide not to play?
There are NO REFUNDS after April 1st. Exceptions are season-ending injuries. Refunds in this situation will be pro-rated (plus $60 to cover administration fees, insurance fees, and cost of shirt and hat). Late fees are non-refundable.

What is included with the fee?
Players will receive a Colorado Springs Baseball Dri-Fit jersey and a MiLB or MLB baseball cap.

Play on great baseball fields, and WARM Summer Baseball Weather!!! Each coach/team chooses the rest of the uniform (pant color, socks, etc.).

How are players placed on teams?
All players are generally placed by area, but it's not guaranteed. There is always a chance of players being placed in other areas of Colorado Springs. Player and/or coach requests are welcome but not guaranteed, except for family relationships.

What equipment do I need to provide for my child?
The league provides:
  • Hat
  • Shirt
  • Team Batting Helmets
  • Game Baseballs
  • Catchers Gear

You must provide:
  • Glove
  • Individual Batting Helmet (optional)
  • Cleats
  • Pants
  • Belt
  • Undershirt
  • Socks
  • Protective cup is HIGHLY recommended for all players
  • Protective cup is REQUIRED for all catchers

What are the new baseball bat requirements?
Colorado Springs Summer Baseball:
    - Minors and Majors Division: Bat size from 2-1/4 to 2-3/4 Maximum
    - Juniors Division: Ages 13-14 use USA Bat, USSSA, or BBCOR standards, 2-1/4 to 2-3/4, age 15 uses BBCOR
    - Wood bats can be used in all divisions

How many games will be played?
Teams play approximately 12-15 games including an end-of-season single elimination Colorado Springs Summer Baseball Tournament.

Do you have a tournament at the end of the regular season?
Colorado Springs Summer Baseball has an end of the season tournament for all divisions. There are individual awards for 1st and 2nd place finishers for all divisions. The end of season tournament will start as soon as all regular season games are complete. Some divisions will start earlier than others and play through the weekend (including Sunday). In the event of inclement weather during the tournament: If unable to play, awards will be handed out to 1st and 2nd seed in the tournament. If the tournament is canceled during the 1st or 2nd day of play, awards will be handed out to the 2 highest remaining seeds in the tournament

Practice Information
Coach will determine practice: dates, location, times, duration and how many per week. Usually there are more practices prior to the beginning of the season. During the season the number of practices per week can be between 1-2, plus games.

How long is the season?
Practices may begin immediately after the teams are announced on May 17th. Games will start around June 2nd for Minors, Majors, and Juniors. All divisions will play through early August with an end-of-season tournament that runs through August 10th.

What days will games be played?
The game schedule varies and will not be posted until the week before the season starts. Most likely, all teams will have at least one weeknight game and one Saturday or Sunday game, weather permitting. There might be some weeks where teams will have to play more games due to make-up games from rain-outs.

What time will games be played?
All weekday games are played at 5:30PM. Weekend game schedule as follows:
Minors and Majors Division: 8:00AM, 10:00AM, 12:00PM or 2:00PM
Juniors Division: 8:00AM, 10:15AM or 12:30PM.

How long does each game last?
Minors and Majors: 1 hour and 45 minutes (no new inning after 1 hour and 45 minutes)
  - Drop dead time limit of 1 hour and 45 minutes on the weekend
Juniors and Seniors/HS:    2 hours (no new inning after 2 hours)
  - Drop dead time limit of 2 hours on the weekend

Where are games held?
All games during the week will be held at El Pomar Youth Sports Park. 2230 Executive Circle, Colorado Springs, CO 80906. Weekend games can be played at multiple locations: El Pomar Youth Sports Park, Goose Gossage Sports Complex, 3950 Mark Dabbling Blvd, CS, CO 80907, Leon Young Sports Complex, 1335 South Chelton Road, CS, CO 80909. Juniors and Senior Division weekday games will be at El Pomar, Weekend games will be at El Pomar, Leon Young or High Schools throughout Colorado Springs.

If you have signed up and paid, then you are registered. You will receive a call from your coach around May 17th.

What if the weather looks bad? Who do I call?
We encourage coaches to notify their players as soon as games are canceled. Best way to get notification from the league is through Facebook. Website may also be updated. Never assume games are cancelled without checking with your coach, the website, or the voicemail. Weather in Colorado Springs can change quickly!

Rain delays & rainouts... what happens?
Weekday games are allowed a 30-45 minute window for rain delays.
Weekend games: It will be a game-by-game decision by league officials. There is a good chance that an early game could be cancelled but not the later game, and vice-versa.

The league will make every attempt to reschedule rainouts. The makeup game will be rescheduled 6-7 days after the rainout, unless both coaches agree on an earlier date. If coaches don't agree on a makeup date given by the league, it will be a forfeit. Make-up dates are Sunday of the following week after a rainout - no exceptions.

No rainouts will be rescheduled after July 19th.

How can I support a team?

Team/Advertisement/Support - The cost is only $200 - $300. For $300, receive a plaque, business logo or name (block letters) on back of jerseys. . For $200, receive business name in block letters on back of jerseys. Advertising in the league can be a business write off. All information must be turned into the league by May 15th.
